Music

A meditation on our connection to nature and each other, for a time such as this.

 A falling leaf

A waning moon

A fleeting glimpse of a deer

I give you my peace

I give you my peace

An outstretched hand

An open heart

A patient listening ear

I give you my peace

I give you my peace

A burnished oak

A mirrored lake

A lullaby of sun

I give you my peace

I give you my peace

A home light’s glow

A table set

With room for everyone

I give you my peace

I give you my peace.

.

We all have to step into that unknown, someday.

Tell me, where does the river flow?

Maybe only the river knows.

Will it set me on familiar shores?

Or sweep me where I’ve never been before?

Tell me, how deep the river flows.

Is there sunlight down below?

Does the river ask me to believe

plunging in, I’ll find

a whole new way to breathe?

I could merge with the river’s flow:

become immersed in letting go.

Ancient streams have joined this mystery:

sacred currents bearing water new to me.

Tell me, where does the river flow?

Maybe only the river knows.

How love connects us.

Love folds cosmic distances,

holds us in connectedness.

That’s what love,

that’s what love can do.

Love weaves from our differences

patterns that show the best of us.

That’s what love,

that’s what love can do.

Love gives itself without seeing

that it’s constantly being

made into something new.

Love is the quiet surrendering

to divine engendering

of all that is true.

Love lives as if the least of us

are worthy of the best of us.

That’s what love,

that’s what love can do.

She was my friend for a brief span. Before she died, she showed me how to cherish all the ordinary.

Caroline, the birds are singing,

the sun is shimmering on the dew.

This morning would be ordinary,

Caroline, if not for you.

Caroline, the kids are playing..

I’ve made ice tea to fill your glass.

This afternoon’s so ordinary,

Caroline, let’s make it last.

Leave the dirty dishes in the sink!

I’ll pour my best red wine for us to drink

while the sunset fades to fireflies

and starlight destined to shine in your eyes.

Caroline, the moon is shining.

The air is thick with cricket song.

Let’s cherish all this ordinary,

Caroline, before you’re gone.

Let’s cherish all this ordinary,

Caroline, before you’re gone.
